Our mission extends beyond the NFL
We are actively engaged with youth, schools, and community organizations to spread our message of inclusion.
The FPA’s Commitment to Community
The Fritz Pollard Alliance recognizes that our mission extends beyond the NFL. We aim to foster diversity, education, and advancement at all levels of the game and within local communities. The FPA actively engages with youth, schools, and community organizations to spread our message of inclusion and create opportunities for the leaders of tomorrow.
While we are heavily focused on diversity in NFL coaching, scouting, and management roles, we strongly believe in laying the groundwork for progress in this area through community outreach. Some highlights of our initiatives include:
Supporting Youth Programs and Organizations
We partner with youth-focused groups such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to provide resources, events, and programming. This helps expose young people to careers in football and emphasizes core values like teamwork, responsibility, and determination. These experiences give youth, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, inspiration to dream big and believe they can achieve their goals through dedication and hard work.
FPA Academy
Our FPA Academy exposes high school students to the wide range of professional opportunities available in pro football, beyond just being players. Through this initiative, participants receive training, mentorship, and hands-on learning experiences related to coaching, scouting, management, and other roles. We are invested in developing the pipeline of diverse talent who are interested in one day working for NFL teams or related organizations.
Community Collaboration
We actively seek out partnerships with community groups, schools, and youth programs to spread our message of access, equity, and possibility. Some of our engagement efforts include sports camps, leadership workshops, educational events, and joint initiatives that provide skills, connections, and inspiration. By joining forces with local organizations that are deeply committed to uplifting their communities, we are able to expand our reach and impact.
Connecting with the Community
During marquee NFL events like the Super Bowl, we bring our mission to life through community engagement activities. For example, during the weekend of Super Bowl LVII, we hosted a special day of bowling, food, and mentorship for over 50 native-American youth from Arizona. They were able to meet and interact with pro athletes, gaining motivation to pursue their dreams. These are the types of experiences that stay with young people for a lifetime.
From high-caliber student-athletes to youth in need of mentors, we want every child to realize their potential and understand the power of opportunity. By planting seeds at the grassroots level, we are helping to cultivate the next generation of diverse leaders and equip them to drive positive change.
