Woodie Dixon, Jr. is currently the General Counsel of Chegg, Inc. (NYSE: CHGG), overseeing all legal, compliance, government affairs and stock administration matters. Chegg is the leading student-first connected learning platform, helping students improve their overall return on educational investment in less time and at a lower cost.
Prior to joining Chegg, Dixon served as the General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Business Affairs for the Pac-12 Conference from 2010-2020. At the Pac-12, Dixon handled all legal affairs and business administration, in addition to oversight of human resources and football operations.
From 2004-10, Dixon served as General Counsel for the Kansas City Chiefs and from 2003-2004, Dixon worked at the NFL Headquarters within the NFL Management Council. Prior to that, Dixon worked for Sidley & Austin LLP and Dorsey & Whitney, handling a myriad of corporate legal matters.
Dixon obtained his JD from Harvard Law School, a MS in Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and graduated cum laude, with a major History, from Amherst College. In 2013, Dixon received a Forty Under 40 Award from the Sports Business Journal, recognizing him as one of the most promising young executives in sports under the age of 40.
Dixon has a history of Board service. In addition to serving on the Fritz Pollard Alliance Board (and serving as Chair from 2020-2024), Dixon is on the Boards of the National Football Foundation-California Chapter (Chair-Nominating and Governance Committee) and the Sports Lawyers Association (Co-Chair of DEI Committee) and serves on the Advisory Board of Arizona State University’s Sports and Business Law Program. Dixon has also previously been a Board Member of USA Football (Audit Committee) and a member of the American Bar Association’s Sports Advisory Committee.
